Let’s Talk about the Pretty Purge!
Why should you do a Pretty wardrobe purge?
Is your closet stuffed with clothes that you haven’t worn in ages? Probably!
The Fall season is the perfect time to make space for new seasonal fashion. Donating your unwanted clothing items is always a great solution. Or maybe you want to make a few extra bucks for the holiday? Keep reading and tell you how to effectively purge your families closet.
The seasons change, fashion trends shift, and there’s always some form of clothing that we just “have to buy!” So it’s much easier to accumulate unwanted clothes than we would all like to admit. Parting ways with old items can sometimes be an emotional occasion but the payout of donating or cashing in major bucks from your old rags will definitely make the experience worthwhile.
Start with the items towards the back of your closet, these are the items that usually go untouched anyway. I suggest taking everything out of your closet and drawers so that you can have a clear canvas as to what stays and what goes. However, removing all of the items from the closets can be a bit overwhelming for some people.
If so, a gradual slow decluttering is okay too. DO WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU - the goal is to minimize.
Shoes are another fashion necessity that grows in number quite easily. Especially since it only feels right to have the perfect shoe to match every outfit.
Toss out the shoes that you never really wear anymore. The truth is if you haven't worn them in the last 30 to 60 days; you probably won't be wearing them anytime soon either.
Too many of us have pieces that we hold on to “just in case,” we decide to wear them one day. These items should go in your “TO GO” pile. How many pairs of black yoga pants does one girl need? Toss it!
Those jeans that you hadn’t been able to comfortably fit in for an entire decade; let them go. Keep in mind that you’re making space for new exciting gear and that you’re also helping someone else out in the process. It’s totally okay to store away your summer season wear for next year.
On the other hand, if it’s something that you know for sure you won’t be interested in wearing next spring/summer season; get rid of it NOW! You may end up with 5 pieces or 55; the number doesn’t matter, as long as every piece is one that you would love to put on and wear RIGHT NOW!
When you're finished cleaning your closet you will immediately feel relieved and clutter free.
Look at all of the progress that you’ve made. Now it’s time for you to decide if you want to donate your goods or make a profit from them. It is a fact that, “one man’s trash is another man's treasure.”
Check around the city that you reside in and locate your local clothing drives and donation sites. Poshmark is a very popular easy to use app that allows you to buy and sell clothes at the ease of your fingertips. There are several other shopping apps that will allow you to cash in major coins for your old clothes: Tradesy, Vinted, Theadflip, Meraci, Listia, ThredUp, & Everdrobe are just a few. This purge may become a biannual ritual for you and your household or maybe you want to purge your closet more often to earn cash to shop for hotter, new fashion.
Choose whatever purging style that’s ideal for your lifestyle. HAPPY PURGING!
Stay tuned, the first Pretty Purge coming is up soon🛍💜
